Thanks to contributions from team captains and members, we’ve built a rich tapestry of match reports, news, and stories that reflect the spirit of Fylde Croquet Club.
That makes this not just a website, but a living archive of our club’s social history.

Whomsoever you may be, I will always be firmly of the opinion that, when playing against me, you more than deserve a 'Biscoff'.

What began as a handful of personal match reports gradually matured into a fully fledged club website. The present incarnation took shape in 2004, guided in part by ideas from Web Designer’s Reference by Craig Grannell (ISBN 1‑59059‑430‑4). Those early pages set the tone: hand‑crafted, lightweight and independent. A major redesign followed on 5 March 2012, introducing a clearer navigation structure and improving compatibility with tablets. Trials in Maidenhead led to a flexible three‑column layout that adapts to changing screen widths: A small revolution for a site built without frames.

In 2015, a touch of PHP was added to display the dates when new items appeared on the home page, helping regular visitors spot fresh content at a glance. This idea evolved further in July 2025, when the system was enhanced to give time‑age updates dynamically and apply colour cues to highlight recent additions.

Today, the site remains hand‑coded using a blend of CSS, XHTML, and a soupçon of PHP, continuing the tradition of simplicity that has defined it from the start.

If you spot an error, a broken link, have an idea for expanding the site, or just want to say hello, please write your message on a packet of Biscoffs and send them to me.
