3. Long before in-court cannons were illegal Phil McKardin, was playing this elegant shot on a regular basis. In this rare footage recently discovered under hoop 3 at Liverpool CC he is playing blue, taking croquet from black and peeling it through penult while, in the same shot, completing the rover peel of a TPO on yellow. Yellow is still a live ball and he roquets in the next shot to make hoop 5 from it. Black is a nice pioneer at 6. He was often asked why he would play this shot so often and his reply was always the same - "Because it is there". It is also interesting to note that Edmund Hillary was a keen player and adopted the same phrase after climbing Everest, a feat which Phil often joked was 'only slightly more of an effort than winning +13TPTPO'
